Problem with language in book I was not at all happy with the kindle version of this book. There was a strange use of language which I found practically impossible to read. I subsequently bought the paperback version of the book to compare both and discovered multiple differences in the two. Here are some examples of what I mean.: Book says "closing the door" Kindle says "final the door", Book - " there was also a cat in a willow basket" kindle- "There changed into also a cat in a willow basket". Book- "he busied himself about this nook." Kindle -"he busied himself approximately this nook" Book- "And lying between them( talking about a package) " Kindle- "and mendacity among them" Clearly mendacity is wrong in this context. I could give numerous other examples. It's like a very bad google translate! I think this kindle book should be taken off the market. so much depth

I read The Mayor of Casterbridge in September after seeing the movie Far from the Madding Crowd, by the same author and found an old copy on my bookshelf. The Madding Crowd was far better in my opinion but the English countryside locale was similar in both, the character development was equal though the characters in The Mayor were less lovable.
